Executive, Research Strategy

Crops For the Future (CFF) is the world’s first and only centre dedicated to research on underutilised crops for food and non-food uses. CFF research focusses on agricultural biodiversity to enhance agricultural systems and their sustainability, address changing climates, and improve food and nutritional security and economic well-being, especially of the poor.

We are looking for the suitable candidate for the position of an Executive to support the Research Strategy.

Job scope:

Among key activities under the Research Strategy, include:

• Work cooperatively and proactively with the Research staff to support the pre-funding research activities up to timely submission of grants;
• Identify funding opportunities and regular monitoring of upcoming calls for proposals (global and in-country) with good understanding of the funding/proposal requirements;
• Keep abreast of current development issues and funding trends and sharing information of significance to funding applications;
• Establish mechanisms to record and track funding proposals and ensure that all funding leads are pursued and coordinated; and;
• Provide support for the development of proposal design, including the setting of realistic and quantifiable project targets and indicators;
• Work with Research staff to develop and maintain database of all grant agreements and MOUs pertaining to grant awards, as well as research publications and key outputs;
• Maintain an organised system of proposal/funding/contract records and documentation, and prepare regular funding reports and analysis;
• Provide administrative and technical support within Research Strategy scope;
• Promote knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of skills.

• A bachelor's degree in Science with a minimum of 2 years of working experience; or a combination of experience and education Bachelor’s degree in Science, with a minimum of two years of related experience, or a combination of experience and education that enables performance of all aspects of the position.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), effective management of database & spreadsheet;
• Effective oral and written communication skills;
• Ability to deal with internal and external high level contacts with tact and diplomacy;
• Ability to handle confidential information and reports which requires discretion and diplomacy;
• Ability to make decisions and exercise sound judgment; 
• Ability to work in fast pace work environment that demands high level of efficiency and organisational skills;
• Understanding of agriculture & food security is a strong asset.
